Traditional societies share ‘the commons’ – a space for gathering, for sharing news and for sustaining their community. Owned by everyone but by no one and so the most important community space. ‘the commons’ needs to be respected, tended and used by everyone. It otherwise becomes degraded and an enclave and the shredding of the community follows.
